The Database team is at the core of what we do at THG. Uptime and availability of our systems is critical to our customers, site uptime and performance, and revenue.

We are looking for a DBA to work with a team of high performing individuals in our Database team. The role of the Database Team is to maintain system availability, assist Developers to optimise code and the databases, and play a key role in business growth due to acquisitions and data migrations.

The right candidate will be technically curious, smart and have a natural aptitude for learning new technologies fast. You will understand the critical role Data and Databases play in a business and will have worked with production databases in the past.

Automation of recurring tasks is a must and we are looking for someone who gets bored with doing manual tasks quickly! Site uptime and availability is a critical deliverable, alongside robust and accurate development outcomes. The business depends on the data we provide them, so we have to be confident in our answers to their complex questions.

We are looking for new ideas to simplify and automate our estate, with the end goal self-service to our customers and users so the team can focus on the new and interesting technologies we can use to further drive business growth.

We need someone with proven and practical experience. The role is working with the team on on-going problems and optimisations on a day to day basis, but also getting involved in the details to capture requirements for delivering quality outcomes, solution design, and being able to practically deliver technical solutions alongside the team. You will have a large set of informed and demanding stakeholders who appreciate the value of data to enhance the way we work.

We also want to start using new technologies which the Database team will manage, such as Couchbase, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform and AWS.
