Quality Assurance Manager (Food Manufacturing)

Due to continued expansion we are looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Manager to drive and support product safety and quality assurance for THG as part of our manufacturing process.
Main Job Purpose:
To drive and support product safety and quality assurance as a manufacturing culture, not a technical initiative.
Key Tasks / Drivers:
As Technical Manager, the purpose of your role is to maintain the Quality Management System and ensure compliance with legislative and customer requirements.
You will manage external audits and supplier approval processes, keep abreast of industry developments and best practice, legislative and customer requirements, monitor compliance against the quality policy, support the ‘technical’ interface with all sales accounts providing technical information i.e. specifications, receiving complaints/non-conformances and responding with corrective actions. Play an integral role in the crisis management team.
As a key team member in the technical team, your influence will be crucial to supporting the development of the function on site.
This role will manage the technical and quality functions to ensure the factory operates to the highest standards and in accordance to BRC v7
Manage the Technical Team, including QMS Manager and Quality Process Manager.
Establish a culture of informed pro-active risk assessment within the business and ensure the technical team is regarded as an approachable but robust centre of excellence
Provide and manage a set of key performance indicators that monitor and further develop technical standards within the business.
Ensure batches released to the market comply with quality and food safety standards.
To participate as a key coordinating player in the preparation for and execution of third party audits, maintenance and follow-up (e.g. BRC, ISO 9001:2015, halal, etc).
Regularly review the performance of staff against agreed objectives, identifying any training and development needs.
Oversee handling of Customer Complaints investigation, using relevant tools to establish root cause and corrective actions
Take part in internal and external audit requirements as per auditing schedule
Drive improvements in quality awareness
Lead on quality management system maintenance and improvement
Support departmental strategy

To be considered you will need to have the following qualifications / skills:
You will have a proven track record of quality systems management
You will be degree qualified or equivalent within a science related discipline
Experience of 3rd party/internal audits and technical visits.
You will have excellent management and communication skills with the ability to develop your team to reach their potential.
Previous experience in identifying and driving quality and continuous improvement objectives will enable you to make a real contribution to the site.
Food based qualifications – HACCP & Food Hygiene/Safety
Experience on managing a QA Team
Familiar with BRC Food Safety Version 7 and BRC Storage & Distribution Version 3
Experience with ISO 9001
Be able to work cross-functional with other departments
You will be able to demonstrate a high degree of planning, organisational and analytical skills and be able to work with and communicate with all levels in the business.
